THT East
Terrence Higgins Trust in Peterborough provides a range of services aimed at men who have sex with men as part of our comprehensive services for the HIV+ and LGBT community. We have strong partnerships with local GUM clinics, Social Services, Cambridgeshire Constabulary and local health providers.
We provide outreach into the gay friendly venues on a weekly basis, where people can get sexual health information, advice and safer sex resources. We also provide a chlamydia screening service at all our outreach venues.
We also have a group for non-scene MSM on a monthly basis in Peterborough City centre, and a weekly youth group for LGBT teenagers.
We do weekly outreach sessions in Public Sex Environments and hold monthly staying safe support groups across Cambridgeshire for men who access these sites.
Our main services also include benefits and welfare advice and housing support for the LGBT community.
We can also provide one-to-one emotional support around issues of sexuality or sexual health.
Teamed with services in the south of the region, we also provide Netreach to the East Anglian area.
In the South of the East reigion we have three centres in Essex. Southend, Chelmsford and Colchester. Between these three centres we cover the whole of Essex and into Norfolk and Suffolk.
Through our extensive social care services for PLWHIV we work with many HIV positive gay men and MSM and other agencies involved in their care, both directly and through GUM / HIV clinics in Southend, Chelmsford, Colchester, Orsett and Harlow.
We distribute CHAPS materials and campaigns to all gay venues, universities and colleges across Essex.
Our growing volunteer base is able to conduct outreach at PSE’s in the region and by netreach currently being developed.
Our links with Essex Police, County and borough council equality leads and young people’s sexual health services allow us many opportunities to deliver training and be a voice for gay men in the region.
