Terrence Higgins Trust in Oxfordshire provides a variety of services aim at men who have sex with men. Although Oxfordshire does not have a large number of venues for men who have sex with men to get together in, what there is is very vibrant and dominated by the large student population in the city of Oxford.
HIV rates are relatively low in Oxfordshire due to the rural nature of the county however, there are pockets of higher infection such as in Oxford city and Banbury in the North of the county which is why our work mainly (although not exclusively) targets these two areas.
All our services are co-ordinated through our Oxford regional centre which is located in the city centre and is easily accessible.
The services we provide include a wide range of health promotion and support services including:
- Venue Outreach: information on HIV, sexual health, personal safety, safer drug and alcohol use, also free condoms and lubricant for men who have sex with men
- Public Sex Environment Outreach: in a number of sites across the county
- Netreach On-Line Outreach in covering the South and Midlands areas
- Condom Male: a discreet and confidential service which sends free condoms, lube and sexual health info by post to men who have sex with men who do not generally have access to the commercial gay scene in the area
- Fastest - HIV Testing: Walk-in, (no appointment) rapid HIV testing service for men who have sex with men
