Current Campaigns

The CHAPS partnership delivers campaigns to gay men, bisexual men and men who have sex with men through interventions in the media. Our current campaigns are set out here.

Current campaigns are those either being delivered at the moment or those created in the past that continue to meet ongoing needs.

The CHAPS partnership decide collectively what campaigns should focus on, based on needs identified by research generated outside of the partnership and within it (such as the annual sex survey and reports based on face-to-face interviews). Campaigns are independently pre-tested during development to gauge their acceptability and effectiveness. After release their impact is measured in ‘end user evaluations’ and coverage surveys carried out by the CHAPS research partners. From this we know how many men have seen CHAPS interventions, their level of engagement with them and, from interviews with men, their impact on our audience.

CHAPS campaigns use a range of interventions; mass media adverts in the press, leaflets or magazines, web sites and online ads that lead to micro sites that provide more detailed information about the campaign topic, give-aways and condom packs for outreach workers, and campaign briefings.
