U+

The healthier lifestyle magazine for gay men with HIV

U+ magazine is a free lifestyle publication for gay and bisexual men who've been diagnosed with HIV. U+ launched in 2007, appears regularly and is now on its sixth issue. It's funded by CHAPS to promote sexual health and well being among HIV + men.

20,000 copies per issue of this 16 page publication are distributed across England and Wales by Terrence Higgins Trust and other CHAPS partners.

U+ is available in gay scene venues, sexual health and HIV clinics, HIV support groups and care agencies. Online versions are placed on THT's main web site and the What Next? web site for recently diagnosed gay and bisexual men.

U+ looks at the whole person, not just the medical aspect of life with HIV. Regular features include interviews with HIV+ men, healthy eating recipes, ways of staying socially active and advice from a Health Trainer on a range of health and emotional issues.

A back page directory lists help and support across the country on issues covered in each magazine. Recent features have covered mixed status relationships, prosecutions for 'reckless' HIV transmission, ageing, viral load and infectiousness, telling family members you have HIV and hepatitis C. An evaluation of U+ is currently underway, with the results published on the CHAPS web site once complete.

You can find back issues of U+ in our library.
